The accused, a Senegalese native, allegedly stabbed to death Fatoumata Kargbo, a Gambian employee, at the HM Bureau Exchange de Change in Westfield, Kanifing Municipality.
When the case was called before the presiding judge, Justice E. Jaiteh, the presiding state counsel Drammeh applied for an adjournment, saying the Attorney General’s Chambers was yet to receive the case file from the police, and that the file was still with the police.
“The police are investigating the matter,” said the state counsel.
Justice Jaiteh reminded the court that the accused was charged with murder, which is a very serious offence, adding that the police needed to submit the report as soon as possible.
The case was mentioned on 29 January 2024, and the court wanted to know what the police were doing over the past month. “The police must be diligent in such work,” Justice Jaiteh stated.
The Judge also suggested in court that the case be called on weekly basis.
The presiding judge further pointed out that if there was anything that was holding the police back from submitting the file, they could report that to the court.
