
According to VDF’s director of Operations and Public Relation Office, Saihou Fofana, this development is just the beginning as VDF plans to install street lights in some villages and also ensure that some communities enjoy access to potable water and other social amenities.
In separate developments, Mr. Fofana also disclosed that VDF donated the sum of D40,000 to the mosque committee of Sare Nfally for the completion of their mosque, while D65,000 was also donated to the youths of Fulladou to organise a ‘Nawettan’ tournament named after Modou Turo Darboe. Sare Nfally Women Association Group were likewise given D50,000.
A beneficiary from Sare Batch, Omar Jallow, hailed the CEO of VDF for supporting their village with a borehole.
He described this support a landmark in history, while assuring the donor of the maintenance and sustainability of the borehole.
In his goodwill Message, CEO Modou Turo Darboe promised to bring more development to the doorstep of the rural people to improve their lives and livelihoods.
Mr. Darboe also preached unity and urged Gambians to avoid tribalism and focus on promoting unity. He cited a slogan: ‘One People, one Nation and one Gambia’, saying, “we cannot develop the country in the absence of unity. He further urged all Gambians to advocate and promote unity, and fight against tribalism in our societies.
Mr. Darboe also recently inaugurated boreholes in various communities; a total of five boreholes meant to support needy Gambians to have access to clean drinking water.
Speaking during the official inaugurations ceremony, Mr. Saihou Fofana highlighted some of the numerous projects that the Vision Development Foundation has undertaken through the support of the CEO Mr. Modou Turo Darboe.
He also emphasised that VDF exists to complement government’s efforts in improving the lives and livelihood of the needy Gambians.
