The day-long seminar was held to bolster the awareness of the students on regional integration matters, and edify them on the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) protocols and frameworks, such as the the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The students took ownership of the occasion, participating actively to understand these crucial issues which would enable them understand how to break through the market, enhance socioeconomic growth and further employment opportunities within The Gambia and even internationally.
The session by presenters from the Ministry reps was trailed by questions and answers period, which availed participants opportunity to clear doubts or seek elaboration in certain areas.
"The Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration, and Employment remains committed to empowering our next generation of leaders through all its avenues," the Ministry stated on its website, adding that the occasion showcased how university students "are key players in driving The Gambia’s role in the region and shaping a brighter future for all”.
Economics and Management Students Association (ECOMANSA), the association representing students at the School of Business and Public Administration (SBPA), has equally expressed thanks to the delegates from the said Ministry for their "thought-provoking presentations".
It states in a dispatch: "Their enthusiasm, valuable contributions, and insightful discussions reignited our intellectual understanding of ECOWAS protocols and regional integration."
