The Inspector General of Police, Seedy M. Touray, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, hosted Service Chiefs, including the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Ousman Gomez, at the Police Headquarters in Banjul for an engagement on election security and preparedness.

The meeting focused on strengthening inter-agency coordination and cooperation among the security services as part of ongoing preparations towards ensuring a peaceful and secure electoral process.

 

Discussions further underscored the importance of a coordinated and professional security approach, effective information sharing, and enhanced preparedness to maintain public safety and order throughout the electoral period.

 

The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts by the country’s security leadership to strengthen collective preparedness and coordination, ensuring that the respective security institutions effectively discharge their responsibilities in support of a peaceful, secure and orderly electoral process.
