Dakar – President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has officially announced the creation of his own political party, marking a significant turning point in his political career.

The declaration was made during a meeting at the Presidential Palace, where more than a hundred mayors gathered to witness the unveiling. The move ends months of speculation about Faye’s political future and signals his intention to lead a movement under his direct authority.

Long associated with Pastef, despite disagreements with Ousmane Sonko, the head of state has now chosen to pursue his agenda through a new structure that he personally directs. Political observers say the decision reshapes Senegal’s political landscape, positioning Faye as the architect of a distinct party separate from Sonko’s influence.
