The business training organised by Njie Charakh World Market Business Enterprise in collaboration with Moth Sarr-Njie Charakh World Market Foundation targets to train 600 women and youth before the end of the year.
The training is geared towards ensuring that women and youth are empowered to be self-employed, Ms Bah said: “It also aims to support the entrepreneurs to turn their smallest investment into major successes.”
Topics being covered during the training include basic business training and strategies or techniques, marketing and market strategies, business financial literacy and business planning, among others.
So far, the first batch of 150 entrepreneurs have graduated after completing their 3-month training. The training is being held at Serrekunda Lower Basic School ground.
She added that CEO Sarr is also assisting them to grow their businesses, minimise lavish spending and start savings.
According to MS Bah, the impact of the training on them and their businesses cannot be over-emphasised. She said further that on weekly basis, Njie Charakh gives students materials to sell and keep the profits for themselves.
She accordingly appealed to the government to help allocate them a plot of land to use as market for their businesses.
She also appealed for start-up capital to end their cycle of borrowing as well as a plot of land for the school.
Bamba Saho, a member of staff of Njie Charakh World Market, said their main goal is to give back to society as well as reduce unemployment in the country unlike most well-established Gambian businessmen.
He therefore called on government, philanthropists and business people to join them in their efforts to develop the young ones and the nation.
Abdoulie Cham, an employee of Njie Charakh, said he is able to pay for his school fees through payments he receives from businessman Moth Sarr.
