New police PRO vows to serve with integrity, excellence

Modou Musa Sisawo, the newly appointed Public Relations Officer of The Gambia Police Force (GPF) has vowed to serve the Gambian people with the highest level of integrity and excellence.

The new spokesperson of the GPF who holds a Master of Science in Public Health Management and a Master of Arts in English replaces Binta Njie, the country’s first ever female PRO of the Police Force.

In an interview with The Point, PRO Sisawo said he would continue to play a crucial role within the police force and also serve as a bridge between the police and the public.

“I am immensely honoured and thankful for the confidence bestowed in me by the Inspector General Mr. Seedy Mukhtar Touray and his leadership. I want to assure them that I will make a commitment in not only protecting the image of the police, but also to ensure that there is a cordial working relationship between the police and the media and the general public.”

“A key focus of my role will be to foster stronger and more productive working relationships with the media, enhancing transparency, and ensuring accurate and timely communication between the police force and the public.” 

This approach, he went on, will be fundamental in building trust and cooperation with the community they serve.

Prior to his promotion, Modou Musa Sisawo held the position of 1st Class Constable and had dedicated over a year of commendable service in the Public Relations Office.

About PRO Sisawo

He served as the acting PRO of the GPF, and boasts an impressive academic background. He holds a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from The University of The Gambia, along with a Certificate in Nursing (SEN), a Post-graduate degree in Clinical Research, and a Master of Science in Public Health Management. Further, he holds a Master of Arts in English (ABD). He is currently pursuing an Advanced Diploma in Journalism and Communications at Media Academy for Journalism and Communication - MAJaC. 

Prior to joining the GPF Cadet ASP Sisawo accumulated over fifteen years of valuable experience working with the Medical Research Council Unit (MRC Fajara) in various roles, including research nurse, Assistant Nurse Coordinator, and Nurse Coordinator across multiple research projects. 

Within the Police Force, he has served as a medic at the Police Clinic in Kanifing and at the State Guard, State House. He also contributed his expertise to the Human Resource Department of the Gambia Police Force before assuming his current role at the Press and Public Relations Office.

Cadet Sisawo's journey has afforded him the opportunity to learn and apply a diverse skill set, making a significant contribution to enhancing the public relations efforts of the Gambia Police Force.
