On Friday 7 October 2022, Humanity First, The Gambia presented some valuable equipment to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul.

The donations were in response to a request made in May 2022 when Humanity First volunteer-doctors came from the United Kingdom to render assistance to the hospital as part of the partnership that exists between the two institutions.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Kawsu Kinteh, chairman of Humanity First, The Gambia, said Humanity First is always happy to render assistance to the hospital. “I am pleased that the management of the hospital appreciates our little contribution to them,” he said.

He further assured the management that that would not be the last as his institution would continue to do whatever it could to assist the hospital in making sure that the Gambian public is served in the best way possible.

Speaking earlier, the Chief Medical Director Dr. Ammar Al Jafari, expressed gratitude to Humanity First, The Gambia. He said he’s not surprised as he has interacted with Humanity First on many occasions before and knows that they are always ready and willing to render assistance whenever the need arises.

“I hope this will not be the last,” he said, adding that the fact that the donation has come to Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of EFSTH, gives him delight as this is the heart of the institution. He expressed the hope of receiving members of Humanity First again and again.

Other speakers at the occasion included Dr. Abdoulie Keita, head of the OGD, Sister Ramatoulie Bah, matron of the Ward, Sister Haddy Lemon, deputy chief matron of the hospital and Mr. Jally Njie, the Public Relations Officer all of whom expressed delight at the donation of items.

The donated items are a Washing Machine, a Dryer and a Color Printer for the Matron worth D150,000.00 (One hundred and fifty thousand Dalasis).

Humanity First was founded as an NGO in Banjul, The Gambia in the year 2000 and since then has been engaged in a number of relief operations and sustainable human development schemes with main aim of lifting communities out of poverty and dependency.
