Eleven (11) of his books were approved by the Curriculum, Research, Evaluation and Development Directorates on 17 May 2022 for use as supplementary materials for senior secondary schools and higher institutes of learning in The Gambia.
In addition to the in-depth perusal of his eleven books approved for use in schools, Dr Seedy Drammeh has received some inspirational awards through writing such as certificates of commendation awarded to him by the Office of the President, State House, signed by His Excellency Adama Barrow in recognition of his participation in reviewing the country’s first National Security Strategy and Security Sector Reform Strategy; likewise, from the Young Writers Association in The Gambia during the first Kunta Kinteh International Book Festival.
The certificate of commendation awarded by the Young Writers Association was in recognition of this book. Moreover, Seedy was awarded certificate of Appreciation for contributing towards the review and launch of a book written by a young writer in the country.
In briefing the media regarding the book: “Memoir of the Beautiful Lifestyle in Rural Gambia”, Dr Drammeh said it was a great honour and privilege for him to be born and raised up in rural Gambia.
According to him in his book, it is considered important to talk about some of the remarkable benefits of living in rural Gambia. Teaching children ethical standards; being part of joint family system, caring and sharing, continuous schooling on moral standards, joint family system, caring and sharing, and providing the required support to one another are some of the benefits derived from living in rural Gambia. Besides, educating children on moral values has helped them behave well and respect people, particularly elders.
In conclusion, Dr Drammeh thanked the Almighty Allah for providing him the ability and strength to document the book on capturing the multimillion benefits attached to rural Gambia.
He also added that he could have not Authored this book without the patience and encouragement from his family, that led him to dedicate the book to the people of Jarra Sikunda Lower River Region and his family.
