The promotion, which cuts across the force, is being seen as a morale‑boosting measure that strengthens the institution’s operational capacity while rewarding loyalty and service.
In a statement, the GPF announced the promotion of 3,618 police officers across various ranks, from Police Constable (PC) to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
The promotions comprise: 1,407 Police Constables to First Class Constable; 1,239 First Class Constables to Corporal; 187 Corporals to Sergeant; 373 Sergeants to Sub‑Inspector; 230 Sub‑Inspectors to Inspector; 114 Inspectors to Chief Inspector; and 68 Chief Inspectors to Assistant Superintendent of Police.
The promotions mark an important milestone in the professional progression of the officers and form part of the GPF’s continued commitment to personnel development and effective service delivery.
The Police High Command congratulated all promoted officers and reminded them that their new ranks come with increased responsibility and expectations of professionalism, discipline, integrity and commitment to duty.
