The case involving Kemo Fatty, Alieu Bah, Momodou Camara and Omar Saibou Camara resumed yesterday before Principal Magistrate Isatou Sallah-M’Bai  of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court. They were charged on two counts of unlawful assembly contrary to Section 63 of the Criminal offences Act, 2025, and common nuisance.

Commissioner A. Sanneh, who represented the IGP along with his colleagues, called his first witness to testify. Superintendent Dawda Jallow, the witness, told the court that on the 15th September, 2025, he had a call from his command that some people were gathering at the National Audit Office. He stated that he mobilised his police officers to the scene.

“Upon arrival, we found some journalists holding a press conference and they were led by Omar Saibou Camara. I asked him whether they had a document that authorized them to have the press conference. He said they did not. I then asked them to disperse. Omar Saibou Camara complied and they dispersed. Later, another group arrived, led by Alieu Bah, who said they were there to hold a press conference. I also asked them whether they had a document that authorized them to hold the press conference. He said they did not. I then asked them to disperse but Alieu Bah insisted that he would not leave. Kemo Fatty also joined him and said that he would not leave, and that they would hold the press conference without a permit. The PIU officers helped us in arresting them. We took them to Kairaba Police Station. I wrote my statement,” he narrated.

The witness was cross-examined by L.S. Camara at the end of his testimony. At this juncture, he applied for the prosecution to provide the defence with the witness statements. His application was granted. The court then ordered Commissioner Sanneh to provide the defence with the witness statements. The case was adjourned to the 15th December, 2025, for the prosecution to call their second witness. Earlier, Commissioner Sanneh applied to withdraw the charge against Momodou Camara. The defence did not raise any objection. His application was granted by the court. Subsequently, Momodou Camara was discharged.
