The trial of Ousainou Bojang, the alleged shooter in the Sukuta Jabang Traffic Lights incident, continued with a rigorous cross-examination by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), A.M. Yusuf.

xThe prosecution sought to clarify inconsistencies in Bojang’s testimony regarding his movements, relationships, and the alleged dissemination of his nude video.

During questioning, Bojang revealed that a woman named Claudette Francis, whom he was romantically involved with, had allegedly made a nude video of him go viral. He claimed to have met her in January 2023, while working at Smiling Coast Apartments, where she owned a unit. Their relationship reportedly began in February of the same year, but tensions arose over financial disputes.

“She told me if I was not careful, she would expose me,” Bojang admitted when asked about the nature of their fallout.

The DPP pressed him on when he first became aware of the video, to which Bojang stated that a friend, Ousman Colley, informed him in September 2023. He also claimed that police officer Sidi Sonko at the station had advised him to avoid public spaces.

The cross-examination also delved into Bojang’s whereabouts and actions on September 12 and 13, 2023, the period surrounding the fatal shooting of two police officers. Bojang admitted to learning about the incident from friends near his workplace but denied checking social media for details. He recounted informing his boss, Sharon, and speaking to a CID officer at Coco Ocean.

When questioned about his departure from Brufut on September 13, Bojang stated he was en route to Zinguinchor, Senegal, but did not inform his family in Zinguinchor beforehand.

The prosecution challenged his memory of phone calls made that morning, particularly to Ousman Manneh, a CID officer. While Bojang initially denied recalling such a call, he later conceded, “Yes, it is possible I called him, but I cannot remember.”

Further scrutiny was placed on his interactions with his brother, Pa Bojang, on the night of September 12. Bojang insisted their discussion centred on financial disputes with Claudette Francis and denied informing Pa about the police shootings.

Additionally, Bojang confirmed that after his arrest, he was taken to Mile 2 Prison, where he first met his lawyer at the Yundum Airport Police Station. He also stated that he received visitors daily both before and after his court arraignment.

The case was adjourned until 24 March 2025.
