There is no doubt that the Jah Agricultural Project will serve as a game changer in Sami District, the villagers said.
The Bayaba community made these comments during the recent inauguration of the 7Km Road funded 100 per cent by Jah Oil Company CEO Hamidou Jah. The road links Karantaba Wolof with the Bayaba Rice field now Jah Rice Field.
The Bayaba village head, Dura Bah, said the project could not have come at a better time than now, as the people of Bayaba had been yearning for such an undertaking as the Jah Agricultural Project in rice production.
“We appreciate this lofty Agricultural project in our community,” he added.
The Jah Agricultural project means a lot to his community, he said, saying that it would improve rice production and productivity as well as create employment opportunity for the people of not only Bayaba village but also the entire Sami district.
“That makes this project very important to the people of Sami,” he added, “considering the significance of rice production, which is our staple food.”
Gambians, he said, would realise the significance of embracing the Jah Agricultural project.
He profoundly commended Jah Oil CEO Hamidou Jah for his foresight in bringing such a project to their doorstep. He also promised that the people of Bayaba would work hand in glove with CEO Jah and team to realise the project.
He further seized the opportunity to praise the elders of Bayaba village for the level of support they have started giving to the project. He urged the people to continue their collaboration with CEO Jah and team at the work sites, and take full ownership of the project.
Mr Bah applauded CEO Jah for bringing such a project to their doorstep, calling on the community to grab the opportunity accorded them.
In his remarks, Sinchu Baya village Alkalo Sulayman Jallow expressed similar sentiments and commended CEO Jah for identifying Bayaba as a rice hub for the entire district of Sami.
He described the agricultural project a viable and worthy venture that would go a long way in addressing the rice or food challenge in Sami. It would also create job opportunities for the youth.
He also thanked the Alkali of Bayaba for allowing Mr Jah to secure a land of 1,200 hectares to for rice production in Sami.
