The State has assembled a total of 21 prosecution witnesses who are set to provide testimonies against the accused armed robbers, Abdoulie Jallow and Losseni Diabate, also known as Ousainou and Alfusainey.

These witnesses will present their accounts in connection with the alleged armed robbery incident that took place at the El-Hella shop, located in Banjul.

The testimonies aim to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the case and establish the culpability of the accused in the alleged crime.

The statement of offence for count one indicates conspiracy to commit a felony as contrary to Section 368 of the Criminal Code, Cap 10:01 Volume III, Revised Laws of The Gambia.

The particulars of the offence state that Abdoulie Jallow and Losseni Diabate (also known as Ousainou/Alfusainey) conspired to commit the felony of robbery on or about February 8, 2025, at El Hella Shop in the City of Banjul, Republic of The Gambia, within the jurisdiction of the Honourable Court.

When the case was called yesterday in the High Court in Banjul before Justice O. Cham, State Counsel M.D. Mballow announced his appearance for the State. Counsel Mballow informed the court that, given the capital punishment associated with count two, the accused must have legal representation for the trial. He stated that they would make the necessary application to ensure that the accused had a lawyer.

When asked if they could secure legal representation, the first accused, Abdoulie Jallow, informed the court that he had already engaged a lawyer but had forgotten to notify him about the hearing date. He requested a copy of the charge, which the presiding judge granted.

Meanwhile, the second accused chose to have the State provide him with legal representation.

The case was adjourned to June 18 at 12 noon for  plea taking.
