2 ex-Senegalese ministers implicated over public funds

Former minister of Mines and Geology, Aïssatou Sophie Gladima, has been remanded on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, following her hearing by the High Court of Justice's Committee. This measure is within the framework of the investigation into the management of funds allocated for the response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to information, Ms. Gladima is charged with alleged embezzlement of public money.

In a similar development, following the hearing of former minister of Women's Affairs Ndeye Saly Diop Dieng, it was the turn of her former colleague in the Justice Department to appear before the investigating commission of the High Court of Justice. At the end of his hearing, Ismaïla Madior Fall was placed under electronic monitoring and house arrest, confirmed his lawyer, Amadou Sall.

The former minister is being prosecuted in a case of corruption involving a property tax and embezzlement of public funds. The offenses against him also include criminal conspiracy, attempted extortion, bribery, illegal taking of interests, fraud, money laundering, and complicity in these cases.
