May 16, 2013, 12:07 PM

The Normalisation Committee of the Gambia Football Federation is pleased to inform the general public that the U-19 Scorpions have safely arrived home after taking part in the 4th edition of the annual Umbria Regional football tournament in Italy.

The Normalisation Committee however regrets to announce that the entire team and delegation has arrived except two members who decided to abscond, Bakary B. Baldeh Media Officer has revealed.

Kits Manager Sanna Bojang and player Malick Dambel are reported to have decamped from the trip and no trace of them has been successful. The Normalisation Committee stresses that the move is regrettable and it is in no way a sporting behaviour especially at this crucial time of Gambian football. Both Sanna and Malick have been key members of the delegation and played pivotal roles during the trip and their staying away therefore is regrettable.

The Young Scorpions arrived in The Gambia on Tuesday 14th May, 2013 accompanied with their giant trophy as champions after winning all four games but drew one against Slovenia at the Group stages.

This is the second time that the Gambia has taken part in the Umbria tournament courtesy of a technical cooperation agreement between Italy and The Gambia through the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
