The Young Journalists Association of The Gambia (YJAG) Saturday conferred the Founder President Award on Foroyaa journalist Kebba Jeffang, as the most committed executive member, during the association’s 7th anniversary celebration held at the TANGO conference hall.

Showing appreciation for receiving the award, Kebba Jeffang thanked the Almighty Allah for making him the lucky one to win this award.

He also thanked his colleagues in the executive of YJAG for their cooperation, adding that the award came as a surprise.

He was lucky to win the 4th Annual Founder President Award, but many of them deserve it, going the commitment and vibrant membership of YJAG, Jeffang said.

“Patience is very important, and it pays all the time,” Jeffang added.

He called on the general membership to be more committed, and hold the executive accountable for better service delivery.

Jeffang dedicated the award to the Foroyaa Newspaper Company for shaping his journalism career.

YJAG President Famara Jawneh said the founder president award is an annual award presented to the most committed executive member of YJAG.

There were many previous winners of the award, including the immediate former president of YJAG, Modou S. Joof and the present secretary general of YJAG.

This year, since the current executive took office, Mr. Jeffang has shown commitment in delivering his duties as a co-opted executive member of YJAG, Jawneh said.

He called on the award receiver to remain committed, and on other young journalists to emulate him.
