The country's only women national team, better known as the female scorpions is expected to take part in a friendly international football match against their Senegalese counterparts on the 24th of this month in Senegal, according to Des Samba Mbenga, the Chairman of Women Sports Committee, who spoke to this reporter in an interview yesterday.
Mbenga has revealed to Pointsport that the women national team since yesterday morning commenced training programme at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium ahead of the friendly, to be held in Senegal later this month.
The team under the stewardship of Buba Jallow, along with his coaching staff Mariama Sowe and Chorro Mbenga are expected to lead a total of 25 players drawn from different clubs to their first intensive training programme since their preparatory effort ahead of WAFU tournament in Nigeria has been called-off.
It is understood that Senegal will use this opportunity to prepare their women national team much better ahead of their next game in the ongoing African Women's qualifiers where they won their opening game with a narrow 1-nil victory against Morocco in an action packed encounter.
