Alfusainey Jarju, the Director of OlymAfrica Centre, Serrekunda East is delighted at hosting the 5th edition of the 2010 Daimler Cup Tournament and the 2nd edition of the OlymAfrica Center International Volleyball Festival, meant to consolidate the idea of Olymafrica Foundation.
He said that the hosting of the Daimler Cup Tournament and the Volleyball Festival marked a new phase in sports within Serrekunda East zone as sports have not been given the required prominence.
The management of Olympafrica Center will work hand-in- glove with schools, clubs and all stakeholders in sports to ensure that they do everything possible to promote all sporting disciplines, irrespective of gender, race, and creed or political, he added.
Mr. Jarju further stated that it is his belief that they are also complementing the idea of the late IBA MBAYE, an architect, a Senegalese national and the founder of Olympafrica.
"I hope the tournament would bring mutual understanding and the spirit of unity and brotherliness by fostering peace among ourselves and within the sub-region," he stated.
He also described the tournament as a big achievement, as he put it, it goes in line with the International Volleyball Festival.
According to him, the yardstick of the tournament gradually grows on yearly basis. As he put it, every year they have different experience and more people from different destiny partake in the competition.
