Kombo Beach who beat NAWEC 4-2 to progress to the second round of the 8-edition of the National Inter-Departmental Sports Association Football Tournament (NISA), on Sunday enjoyed a bitterly-fought 2-1 victory over Gambia Civil Aviation Authority to book their place in the quarter-final of the competition, at Sea View football field.
The hotel club under the captaincy of former Gambia national U-17 midfield kingpin, Badou Conateh, who has played for a host of top flight clubs, namely Steve Biko, Gamtel, among others, led a hard-fought encounter and in the process went home with a deserved 2-1 victory at the expense of GCAA, who could not manage an equaliser.
Sulayman Jatta scored GCAA's only goal of the game, but it only proved to be a consolation with a brilliant 52nd minute strike.
They went close to scoring on sporadic occasions, but all their brilliant attacking options and some wonderful passes were not good enough to earn them a happy moment.
Goals from Pa Demba Kebbeh and Ebrima Ndow, who netted in each half was enough to see Coach
Ebrima Y.B Jatta and his men through to the quarter-final of the championship they have never won.
But if this current form is anything to go by, the hotel club could make their way to the final and even end up winning their first NISA tournament, considering the experience of players at their disposal.
