Woman remanded for theft

A woman called Cindy Kujabi was recently arraigned before Magistrate Kijera of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court for stealing from a dwelling house.

She pleaded guilty and was remanded until 31 December 2015, for the tendering of the exhibits and sentencing.

The facts as narrated by WPC 5426 Badjie stated that it happened on 10 December 2015, at Kololi where the accused met with the complainant at a restaurant called Jazz Café at Senegambia.

The complainant was with another lady called Mariama Bojang, and the complainant gave his house key to the accused who went to the house and saw a suitcase, which she damaged with a knife and took 640 pounds sterling equivalent to D39,680.

The complainant later found out that the said suitcase was damaged, and the matter was reported to the police as he suspected the accused person.

The accused was later arrested and during the investigation, she revealed that she was the one who took the money, and further said half of the money was used to pay house rent.

The 380 pounds and D1,455 was recovered from the accused who was later cautioned and charged with the offence committed.

The charge sheet read in court stated that on 10 December 2015, at Kololi in the Kanifing Municipality, the accused, Cindy Kujabi, stole cash of 640 pounds sterling equivalent to D39,680, the property of one Dawsun.
