Magistrate Jallow on Thursday ruled on the voir dire in favour of the
prosecution in the trial of one Tijan Janneh, accused of theft at the Bundung
Magistrates’ Court.
During the trial, the prosecutor applied to tender a voluntary statement, which the accused objected to.
The cased was then adjourned for a voir dire.
The prosecutor called three witnesses and the accused called two witnesses, and after the magistrate heard all the witnesses, delivered a ruling in favour of the prosecution.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused, Tijan Janneh on 18October 2014 at Sukuta in the West Coast Region, stole $12,900 and D43,000, the properties of one Lamin Kijera and thereby committed an offence.
The case was adjourned to 20 January 2015, for the continuation of hearing.
