The Gambia national U-20 team was Monday held to a pulsating 1-1 draw by host Sierra Leone in the ongoing African international youth football championship in Freetown.
The Darling Scorpions, who beat Ojoko FC of Nigeria 3-2 in their opening group B match at the weekend, have now collected 4 points out of two matches. Their next match at the group stage is against Liberia, slated for today.
Seedy Kinteh, president of the Gambia Football Association, says the Baby Scorpions are not in Sierra Leone to win the trophy but to put in place “a formidable and strong team” that will represent the country in the upcoming African U-20 youth championship in Libya.
