Principal Magistrate Basiru Mahoney on the 14th July, 2009 at the Kanifing Magistrates' Court convicted and sentenced Emmanuel Equavoer and Henry Ekutewe, Nigerian nationals for the offence of assault causing grievous bodily harm.
The first accused was fine D2,500 in default to serve six months in prison and was also ordered to pay D8,000 as compensation in default to serve another six months imprisonment.
While the second accused attracted a fine of D1,000 in default to serve three months imprisonment and also ordered to pay a compensation of D4,000 in default to serve another three months.
According to the charge sheet, the accused persons, Emmanuel Equavoer and Henry Ekutewe, on the 19th May 2009 at Bakau jointly assaulted one Frank Obi by hitting him on the left eye, thereby causing him grievous bodily harm.
Inspector Fadera was the prosecuting officer.
