According to sources, the matches will be played on a knock-out basis, starting with the curtain-raiser between Gambia and Guinea Bissau, at 5pm Monday 20th July, 2009, at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

According to official match scheduled, the finals will also take place at the Independence Stadium on Friday 24th July at 5pm.

The chief patron for the occasion is His Excellency Sheikh Professor, Dr Alhagie Yahya AJJ Jammeh. Other dignitaries have been invited to grace the final event and assist with the award of trophies, certificates and prizes.

It would be recalled that the Gambia former internationals brought home the giant trophy at the last sub-regional encounter held in Senegal last year, after dominating Mauritania and the Senegalese teams in the play-off.

The Gambia will be fielding two veteran teams: Banjul and Kombo selections, respectively.

It could be recalled  also that on basis of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by all the parties in 2008 in Thies, Senegal, the sub-regional veterans movement has as one of its objectives the maintenance and promotion of sub-regional peace and integration.
