The Point has learnt through reliable sources that Musa Sheriff, editor and publisher of The Voice newspaper has been arrested and detained.

According to sources, Sheriff was picked up from his office in Serekunda where four officers in plain-clothes came early Monday morning and waited for his arrival, before taking him to Sanyang Police Station.

His arrest, sources added, is in connection with a story published in The Voice newspaper in December with the headline: ‘‘19 green youths defect to UDP’’, a report the ruling APRC denied in another story published in the same newspaper.

Meanwhile, at the time of going to press, the author of the said story, Sainey MK Marenah, was also reported to have been arrested and held.

Marenah’s arrest, according to sources, came after he (Marenah) visited Sanyang Police Station where Musa Sheriff was detained.

The two are said to have been charged with giving false information.
