CRR Health Workers Capacitised on Data Collection Tools

A two-day capacity building workshop on harmonised and integrated data collection tools recently ended in CRR South. The workshop, which was held at the Central River Region, educated regional Health workers on the harmonized and integrated data collection tools and was funded by Global fund through the Department of State for Health (DOSH).

Speaking earlier, the program manager health Management Information System, Mr. Momodou Lamin Cham, said that training health workers to be conversant with the tools came as a result of a review in 2007. According to him, the health workers on the grand (health centres, dispensary etc) need to be capacitised on how harmonised and integrated data collection tools are properly used. He further stated that there is a need for the tools to be used correctly in order to be able to collect accurate, timely and complete data from the health facilities.

For his part, the CRR Regional Public Health officer, Mr. Momodou Lamin Darboe, spoke at length on the importance of the workshop, adding that training health workers is a way of ensuring best service delivery in health facilities.

Mr. Darboe further noted that training health workers on health management information data collecting data and date management system at various regional levels is taking place. This is because we are moving from tradition to evident based service delivery.

In her vote of thanks Madam Fatou Jammeh, a health worker at Bansang Reproductive child Health (RCH), thanked and commended the organisers for the timely workshop. Adding that this should be on going training, so that those coming in the system newly can benefit from it. She then assured the organisers that, the knowledge and skill gathered here will be fully utilised as expected.
