The materials include three sets of football jersey, goal keeping gloves, socks, game- substitution boards, two sets of goal-nets, an account book of more than D23,000, one giant trophy and a set of warmers.
Most of the presented materials were given as donations from philanthropists to the former committee. The materials were presented at a time that the team of Sanyang village is preparing for the third division qualifiers due to start later this month.
The outgoing public relations officer of the committee, Saikou Tijan Bojang, said football in Sanyang can only take a great footing when all stakeholders join hands together to tackle all sporting conflicts that sometimes happen between teams and the committee.
He said he would continue to contribute his quota to the development of sport in the community, as a former executive committee member of the sports committee.
“I will always be behind the good work of the current committee. They will also receive my support at all time,” Mr Bojang said.
Lamin Jawla, outgoing chairperson of the committee, advised the new committee to work tirelessly for the advancement of football in the community.
He said: “As the present sports administrators, it is important to know that peace and tolerance cannot suffice if one tends to forget the crucial part sport plays in nurturing peace among people.”
Receiving the materials, Buba P.J Bojang, the new chairperson of the Sanyang Sports Committee, commended the outgoing committee for their long serving and tireless efforts towards the development of sport in Sanyang.
He said the materials received from the former committee “will help us stand firm and prepare well for the tight encounter”.
Mr Bojang said his committee will be unanimous and cooperative in moving sport at the village to another level.
“With dedication, cooperation and hard work of the committee, football and other sporting disciplines in Sanyang will take better traction,” he said.
