The trial involving ex-Kombo Central NAM Abdou Jarju and five others on Thursday failed to proceed at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Jagne.
The other accused persons are Lamin Jarju, ward councillor of Marakissa, Yahya Bojang, councillor for Suuba ward, Bakary Kujabi, Malick Jassey, and Lamin Kullo Jatta.
When the case was called, the trial magistrate told the court that the 5th accused person had written a letter to the court dated 22 October 2013 that he could not make it to the court because he was in Farafenni for a mission.
The case was then adjourned till 5 November 2013.
The police accused Lamin Jarju and 5 others that on 25 June 2013, at Busura village, while being at a public place, jointly conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause the breach of the peace, and thereby committed an offence.
The police prosecutor also accused Lamin Kullo Jatta that on 25 June 2013, at Busura village, in the Kombo Central District of the West Coast Region, he incited others to take part at the meeting ground in Busura village, which was calculated to bring physical injury to the community and thereby committed an offence.
