Tankong
Kunda Lower Basic School, in Central River Region’s Sami District have
benefited from a donation of more than 6, 500 exercise books from one of its
citizens.
The
donated books are expected to help improve teaching and learning in the school
and reduce the financial burden on both parents and the government in the
purchasing of books for children.
The
donor said the gesture is a show of contributing his part to the improvement of
education and his corporate social responsibility as a citizen of the village
and as a Gambian.
Headmaster
of the school, Jariga Bah thanked the donor for what he called his worthy
gesture to the school, saying the donation was important and timely and also
assured that the stationaries will be put in to good use.
School
committee members, including Essa Danso, Homorrow Danso, Kulumba Jallow, Lalo
Tiyanna, Hanjila Tunkara, John Konateh, Yaya Saidy, Mangkamang Komma and Secka
Jawo, all expressed appreciation for the donation, saying the gesture will go a
long way in helping the school, parents and the government.
