Poise To Release Album

Dembo Jatta, alias Rootsman, a Sweden-based Gambian artist is currently in the country to promote and release his eleven-track album, entitled: "Abuloo." He is also expected to give a helping hand to  other musicians in the country.

Speaking at a press briefing at "The New One for The Gambia Bar and Restaurant" in Bakau recently, the Sweden-based artist said his mission in the country is to promote and release his album and also to support some Gambian musicians. According to him, the 11-track album will boost the music industry of The Gambia to higher heights, revealing that the album was recorded in OK Studio in Sweden.

In the view of Dembo Jatta there is no money in music but happiness.

He noted that to be a good musician, one needs to learn how to play instruments.

The Sweden-based Gambian artist started his musical career in The Gambia, a time he described as tough, before going to Sweden, where he lives for 20 years now. He had performed in New York, Germany and Denmark to promote his music and meet with big international artists.

Dembo Jatta had served in the Gambia National Army for five years before travelling to Sweden.

Mr. Jatta used the occasion to thank President Jammeh for "taking the country to higher heights" and called on practising musicians to build music here before going to other countries.
