Ous FC on Sunday joined other teams in the second round of the ongoing Kotu Quarry noran tournament, after beating Feature Stars FC by a goal to nil in a game played at the Kotu football filed.
Malick Jorbateh scored the only goal of the game for Ous FC in the 64th minute, thus guaranteeing his side a place in the second round of the tournament.
Earlier on the same day, Bulfaleh FC defeated Liberty FC 2-1. Ebrima Camara opened the score line for Bulfalleh FC in the 22th minute of the game, while Muhammed Jatta doubled the lead for Bulfalleh FC in the 59th minute of the game.
Ebrima Sanneh scored Liberty FC’s consolation goal 10 minutes later.
Speaking to this reporter shortly after the game, the chairman of Kotu Quarry Youth and Sports Development Committee, Amadou ML Jatta, express gratitude for the successfully completion of the first round of the competition, adding that it was contested with a respectable performance and peace from all the participating teams.
He added that the committee has been organizing both junior and senior tournaments for the past five years.
The tournament is there to help develop grassroots football. “I have love for youths because they are the foundation and the future for tomorrow, and organizing tournaments for them is very important”.
The tournament will give them a chance to showcase their talent and help them grow for the future, he went on.
They have produced young stars since the inception of the tournament, and they hope to start the second round soon.
There are plans to also stage a knockout trophy, which will help teams better prepare for the nawetan proper qualifiers.
They organised the competition for young players to compete among themselves, and concluded by urging other zones to organized junior tournaments.
