Information reaching Pointsports desk has it that this year’s Super Nawetan final between Sukuta and Lamin has been shifted to Saturday 31st December 2011 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
The Super Nawetan final famously known as Zonal was initially scheduled to take place last Saturday, but failed to proceed and a new date was fixed for the eagerly-awaited showdown.
Sukuta progressed to the final, following wins over Brikama, Serekunda West, and Lamin who will be seeking a revenged in their quest for a record second Zonal title together with their weekend opponent, who also won the competition once.
Despite their good run of fine form, the Kombo North outfit Sukuta succumbed to a 1-nil defeat to Barra Essau Mayamba (BEM) selection who were making their debut after replacing suspended Bakau this term.
The Sukutarians came from 2-1 down to beat Lamin at the group stage, before going ahead to edge past Brikama, Serekunda West to send warning signals to the rest of the participating teams in fashion.
The biggest victory for the Sukutarians was their penalty shootout success over Manjai whom they eliminated in the race to reach the finals in grand style.
Sukuta’s impressive form in the campaign has also seen them finish top of the table with 9 points in four Super Nawetan matches.
