Magistrate Abeke of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court recently discharged one Sulayman Trawally, charged with threatening violence.
According to the charge sheet, on 13 March 2011, the accused, Sulayman Trawally, threatened to kill his mother, Mariama Krubally, with an iron bar.
The accused, in his plea of mitigation, begged the court to temper justice with mercy, saying the complainant is his mother.
He added that he did not threaten to kill his mother but only damaged the glass of the cupboard, adding that she is the only mother he has.
The mother also told the court that the accused damaged the glass of her cupboard.
Magistrate Abeke told the accused to apologise to his mother in court and warned him to maintain the peace and if he is taken to court again, he would send him to prison.
