Senegalese Major General ends visit

The Senegalese embassy in Banjul recently held a dinner at Senegambia Beach Hotel for Senegalese Major General Alioune Wade, who visited The Gambia from 23 to 27 June, on a mission to inspect the military posts at the borders.

Speaking at the dinner, Colonel Ada Kounde, the Senegalese military attaché, thanked the security chiefs of The Gambia, and pointed out thatduring his stay, Major General Wade paid a courtesy call on the inspector general of the Gambia armed forces, the CDS, IGP and the Minister of the Interior.

In his remarks, the Senegalese High Commissioner to The Gambia, Babucarr Jagne, spoke of the need to enhance security and defence cooperation, and described the Major General’s visit as a positive move.

Commodore Madani Senghore, chief of naval staff, said the dinner was good as it brought together army and security chiefs from both countries.

It is important to know each other, share ideas and foster a relationship, he added.
