SEINO Kindergarten holds inauguration, graduation ceremony

SEINO Kindergarten Nursery School in Manjai-Kunda was on Saturday inaugurated, coinciding with the graduation of the first batch of nursery pupils to grade one since the school started operation.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Guest of Honour at the occasion, Mrs. Sukai Mbye Bojang, an educationist described SEINO school environment as teacher and parent-friendly, noting that the development of the school is indeed remarkable.

Mrs. Bojang said UNESCO always encourages the use of local languages to young people at their tender age, adding that when young people start speaking local language at tender age they often develop good memory. Mrs. Bojang said "if the young people speak local languages at their tender age, they would be able to learn other languages easily." She thanked the proprietress of SEINO Kindergarten, Lower and Upper Basic Schools Mrs. Aji Haddy Saine for giving her the opportunity to inaugurate and preside over the first graduation ceremony of the school.

For his part, the Co-ordinator of SEINO Kindergarten School, Lamin O. Sallah revealed that SEINO Kindergarten School started operation in October 2000 with 24 students. He said as of now, they have an enrolment of 229, out of which 111are boys and 118 are girls.

Mr. Sallah stated that the main purpose of establishing SEINO Kindergarten School is to give quality education and guidance in early childhood to their students, and to eradicate illiteracy without discrimination. He said 93 pupils have completed their Childhood Care Development Education at SEINO Kindergarten School during the 2009-2010 school academic year.

He said apart from SEINO Kindergarten, they also have SEINO Lower and Upper Basic Schools and now their target is to build SEINO Senior Secondary School in the near future.

The best out-going pupils in the core subject areas were given prizes for their hard work, while the best pupil in each of the classes also received prizes. The best and most disciplined prizes went to Aminatou Jallow of Nursery 3 Square and Baboucarr S. Jallow of Nursery 3 Triangle.

The Parent Teachers Association Chairman for both SEINO Kindergarten and Lower Basic Schools Mr. Buba Camara, chaired the ceremony.

The Headmistress for both schools Mrs. Aji Haddy Saine gave the vote of thanks.
