The long awaited 2010-11 Gambia Football Association second division league will get underway today, Pointsport has gathered.
Matches, Pointsport understands, will be played in four different venues, namely Serrekunda East, Serrekunda West, Banjul and Brikama mini-stadiums.
The opening matches in week one fixtures will see Serrekunda East clash with last year’s relegation side Seaview Football Club, also known as the hotel club, at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.
Serrekunda East, who finished 3rd in last year’s GFA second division league, on the other hand, will be setting their eyes on winning their opener in order to stand firm for a place in the country’s top league football next season.
Seaview will also be looking forward to conquering the second tier football competition as they look likely to be too good for a second division football.
The hotel club under the guidance of former coach Alagie Sarr were not good enough to maintain their place in the first division and eventually had to face demotion to the second tier league.
This has led to the departure of coach Sarr, who has since been replaced by Pa Samba Mbenga at the helm.
