The 2011 Fatou’s Print sponsored Gunjur Nooran Football Tournament organised by Gunjur Youth and Sports Development Association (GYSDA) meant to maintain the fitness of players in Gunjur continued to produce some fascinated and exciting football encounters at the Gunjur playground at the weekend.
Gamcel FC beat NAS FC 2-1 to maintain their unbeaten run to three games in succession finishing at the summit of Group A on 7 points as a result.
Goals from powerful striker Yusupha Barrow, alias Beckham, and Mbemba Fatty, aka Puyol, in the 15th and 30th minutes was enough to see Gamcel crush to a hard fought victory at the expense of NAS, who could only manage a consolation through Dembo Bojang.
NAS FC finished 3rd position in group A with 3 points in three games but that result is not good enough to see them continue fighting for a silverware.
Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Nyokoyorr FC in the other game of group B fixtures at the weekend.
United are currently leading group A with 3 points in three outings, while Nyokoyorr are 2nd position in group B with 3 points in three games a single goal adrift of group B leaders Manchester United.
