Scorpions To Leave Tomorrow, Moved To Camp

As part of preparations for the return leg of the first edition of the African Cup of Nations for home based players, organised by the confederation of African football (CAF), the Scorpions of The Gambia yesterday moved to camp at the Paradise Suites Hotel.

After a 1-1 draw in Banjul in the first leg, the Scorpions will have to face a dramatic encounter againstMauritania in Nouakchott as they will have to turn the tables in their favour by winning on Saturday. The game is a do or die affair for the Gambian team as they must beat the home side, to advance to next stage of the qualifiers.
Speaking to Pointsports, the Assistant Coach Lamin Sarr said he is very optimistic that his side can win the tie. He said, " we are well prepared for the return leg we have called up an 18 man squad to camp and we included four new players in to the team namely Paul Jatta, Ebrima Bojang, Aruna Jammeh, and Joseph Jabang". He stated that they are well prepared and by the help of God we will see a different game in Nouakchott.

He further said that the team will be leaving tomorrow, Tuesday 8thof April 2008, and will play the return leg on Saturday, 12thof April 2008.

Meanwhile it will be recalled that the Scorpions struggled very hard to equalise against Mauritania in Banjul after the visitors took the lead in the first half of the game. The Scorpians did score an equaliser in the second half through Momodou Lamin Sillah alias Del of Wallidan.
