The US musician was in the country as part of his 2014 promotional tour for the official release of his new album expected to make a hit in the country.
Speaking in an interview with The Point Entertainment and Lifestyle recently at the Joint Officers Mess in Kotu, Respect as he is widely called, said he has been in the music industry for many years and has collaborated with very important music experts in the hip-hop music.
“I came to The Gambia to promote my 11-track album entitled Scorned Superbly, which was recorded in New Jersey and will be my second album after Take a Stand,” he explained.
Keith Mason, widely known as Respect, went further to inform Point Entertainment and Lifestyle that his first album was mainly a hip-hop, adding that reggae music in his country is really big.
Even though this is not our traditional music like calypso and Soca, reggae music is getting momentum there,” he said. “I am currently working with the Mike Promotions and my plan is to make a second trip to The Gambia sometime next year.”
During his visit, Respect met with shakers and movers of the music industry key among them is The Gambia’s finest artiste Benjamin, adding that he is also planning a tour of Europe and other destination to promote his music.
For his part, Mike Drammeh, the CEO of Mike Promotions described Respect as an artiste with a difference, adding that Mike is someone who is always active in the development of the youth to enable them to take part in national development.
Mike said Respect’s visit is to give positive entertainment to the music lovers in the country.
