Red
Star FC and Reliance FC are set to battle for the 2016 Green Vision
International Real Estate Company Limited-sponsored Gunjur Nawettan league
title after Dunes FC and Kundembo FC to reach the final.
Red
Star FC beat the reigning league champions Dunes FC 1-0 in the semifinal game
played at the Gunjur Nyamina Football Field on Saturday to progress to the
league since 2015 season.
Defender
Ebrima Jatta alias Mario’s 43 second long-ranged strike was enough to earn Red
Star FC a place in the league.
The
Nyofelleh-based outfit fought back for an equaliser but to no avail thus the
game ended 1-0 in favour of Red Star FC.
Reliance
FC defeated Kundembo FC 4-2 on penalties, after their 1-1 draw in the
regulation time in the other semifinal played on Sunday.
Prolific
striker Yaya Touray, alias Rapa, gave Reliance FC the lead in the first half
from an excellent strike.
Midfielder
Ebrima Njie alias Cesc levelled matters for Kundembo FC in the second half to
cancel striker Yaya Touray’s first half strike to make it 1-1.
This
pushed the game into a post-match penalty shootout, which ended 4-2 in favour
of Reliance FC.
Reliance
FC will now face Red Star FC in the 2016 Green Vision International Real Estate
Company Limited sponsored Gunjur nawettan league final after eliminating
defending champions Dunes FC and runners-up Kundembo FC in the semifinal
matches at the weekend.
