Real De Banjul FC claimed the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) first division league title after accumulating 40 points from 20 games, seven ahead of second-placed Gamtel.
They were paired with Liberian premier league club Barrack Young Controllers (BYC) by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the 2015 CAF Champions League.
Real lifted the 2013/14 league title, the second time in two years, and Real’s 12th league title, and will host their Liberian counterparts in Banjul in the weekend of February 13-15, with the second leg scheduled to be played two weeks after in Monrovia.
The winner of the two legs will face African champions Entente Setif, who will begin the defence of their title.
The Algerians along with six other clubs got a place in the first round of the 2015 African Champions League.
Coton Sport of Cameroon, Congo’s AC Leopards, Egypt’s Al Ahly, TP Mazembe of DR Congo and the Tunisian duos of CS Sfaxien and Esperance are the other clubs in the first round.
Three former winners are in the preliminary rounds namely, Ghana’s Asante Kotoko to face East End Lions of Sierra Leone, Nigeria’s Enyimba will play Buffles from Benin, while Raja Casablanca takes on Diables Noirs of Congo.
The tournament gets under way with preliminary round fixtures in the weekend of 13-15 February, with second leg games scheduled a fortnight later.
