A renowned Senegalese scholar, Serigne Abdou Fattah, current Khalife of Taif, is due to arrive in Banjul today.
He is the son of Serigne Sheilk Ahmadou Mbacke Gainde Fatma Son of Sheik Mouhamadou Moustapha Mbacke the elder son of Sheik Ahmadou Bamba Mbacke Khadimou Rassoul.
After having very early memorized the Koran, of which he wrote a specimen with his own hand, his father sent him to Mauritania to complete his theological formation.
He was one of the first descendants of Sheik Ahmadou Bamba to attend a French school.
Thus, after his baccalaureat at the Charles Gaulle College of Saint Louis he entered the University of Dakar, where he obtained qualifications inkling a Masters in economic science before leaving successively for Morocco, France and the United States. He holds an MBA and several certificates in the legal and economics fields.
When he came back to Senegal, he assisted his late father for several years with the management of multiple investments in Senegal, Africa and in the world at large.
After the demise of his father, he was devoted to his business, while creating and establishing several international and companies specialized in trade, intermediation and commercial representation.
He is at the back of the creation of many trade and industrial undertakings, some of which form part today’s economic pillar of Senegal.
After 30 years of a rich career of intense activities, and when some would think of taking a peaceful retirement, destiny made him Khalife of Serigne Sheik Mbacke Gainde Fatma, whose elder brother is Serigne Mbacke Sokhna.
While in The Gambia, the Khalifa will on Friday 30th September 2011 hold a conference in Brufut at the compound of Morr Jobe, and he will offer special prayers for the government and people of The Gambia.
