Antou Badjan, who is currently plying his trade with the Gambia Football Association (GFA) topflight side Gambia Ports Authority, is among the finest and consistent centre-backs in the ongoing GFA division one league.
Badjan started his career with Ndow’s School team when he was in grade four and was in both the junior and senior teams but did not concentrate on the game till after his graduation.
Badjan played for Luzan FC in the West Nawettan where Lazan won a double - the league and the knockout championship.
He held Bundas FC to clinch the 2010 Serrekunda West Nawettan title.
Badjan’s brilliant performance in West Nawettan earned him a place in Ham Ham FC, now called Latrikunda United, making their trade in the GFA second division league.
Badjan actually spent one season with Latrikunda United before he was scouted by the GPA to their youth team.
The young and energetic player was promoted to the GPA’s senior team in 2011, and was featured in the 2011 CAF Orange Champions against Senegalese side Jaraaf.
He was also featured against Cassa Sports in the WAFU Club Championship.
Badjan has also been featured in the Super Cup and FA Cup finals against Gamtel, both of which the GPA lost.
He also some time ago did train with the Gambia National U-20 team and the Gambia Senior National team for the qualifiers.
