He was born in Kiang Jiffarong to Gambian parents Lamin Barrow and Kaddy Drammeh who, including his Uncle Omar Drammeh, Sarjo said, all contributed immensely in his quest to excel to a better standard in his football playing career. Sarjo Barrow is a rare talent in the country's football, at the youth category. He possesses amazing skills, including the ability to easily beat past the defenders, when given the space.
Sarjo plays with a Nawettan team called Johannes FC in Kololi, where he had a successful spell as a young prodigy, since he joined them in the 2008-09 season from Real De Sanchaba.
The 16-year-old youngster, who has set his sights on securing a place with the Gambia National U-17 team, had an outstanding career with the Jiffarong village team in the Lower River Region.
During his successful spell in Jiffarong,
Since at his tender age, Santos has proven to be the driving force behind Jiffarong's success as he guided them to victories against neighbouring village teams, including Sankandi, Dumbuto, Bajana, Kuli Kunda, among other leading football teams in the Kiang West district. This was before putting an end to his career in the provinces, where he left extra-ordinary performances everyone would remember him for. In fact, Sarjo is widely rated as one of the finest chaps ever to play football in Kiang Jiffarong.
Sarjo subsequently played for a number of Nawettan clubs, where he was once again instrumental in leading his former club Real De Sanchaba to a Super Cup final. However, the star could not help his team to Super Cup glory, after they were beaten in the penalty shoot out in final in 2008, following 90 minutes of regulation period play which failed to produce a winner.
Shortly afterwards, Sarjo ended his 3-year trophy drought when he guided Johannes to a League Cup title at the expense of Kololi FC in stunning fashion, earning the admiration of football pundits in the process. Sarjo ever went ahead to lead Johannes to another title knockout race in his first full season at the Kololi outfit.
His achievements in Nawettan football did not only stop in Kololi.
Sarjo, it would be recalled, in 2008 became an integral part of successes registered by Blue Stone a top Nawettan club in Busumbala as he helped the team to their first Super Cup title to add A second accolade to his name.
Undeniably the hottest prospect in Jiffarong football in recent years, the young footballer who is also eyeing a move to professional football at some point in his career also had spells with big name clubs such as Yundum United in Yundum, Real De Banjul youth team and Njogu Demba Soccer Academy respectively.
