Ms Beatrice Allen was among eight recipients of the Sports Journalists Association of The Gambia’s award to people who have invaluably contributed to Gambian sport.
This accolade was bestowed on her at the SJAG 4th National Sports Award held last Saturday at the SunSwing Hotel in Kololi.
Her award was received on her behalf by Peter Prom, Secretary General of the Gambia National Olympic Committee.
Born on 8 August 1950, Madam Allen is one of the key sports personalities the country will always be proud of. She has a long list of sports accolades ranging from her history of sports administration to her contribution to and achievements in sport at home and abroad.

Madam Allen has served as Second Vice-President of the Lions Club of Cape Point; member of the Gender and Development Programme Coordinating Committee of Management Development Institute, The Gambia; President of the Association of Certified Gender Trainers; Chairperson of the Special Olympics, The Gambia; First Vice-President of the Olympic Committee of The Gambia; Chairperson of the Women and Sports Commission of the NOC and of the Association of the National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA); President of the Gambia Softball Association
IOC History
She has also served as member of the following commissions: Women and Sport (2004), Culture and Olympic Education (2008- ), Coordinator for the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 (2010- ).
Contributions/ Achievements: She has a wealth of experience in world Olympism and is one of the most influential female sports administrators in the continent. Through her position as an IOC member she was able to get additional funds for women and sports and education and culture.
