Police officer killed in road accident

A fatal accident in Brikama on Monday led to the death of a police officer, one Sergeant Wally Joof, The Point has reliably learnt.
According to our source, the incident happened on Monday evening when two police officers from Brikama Police Station were heading to the Brikama forest on a motorbike to mount a check-point only to be hit by a vehicle.
“The two officers were seriously injured and taken to hospital, but Sergeant Wally Joof died the next day (Tuesday evening),” a source told this paper.
Meanwhile, ASP Yerro Mballow, police public relations officer confirmed the incident, and told The Point that the driver of the said vehicle was detained, and is currently helping the police in their investigations.
