Physical Education teachers train ahead of inter-schools

As part of the preparation before the start of the annual Inter-school Athletics Championship, at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, Physical Education Teachers (P.E. teacher), on Sunday converged at the country's only stadium for a daylong coaching course, as well as technical training programmes for P.E teachers from the Greater Banjul Area, in a bid to capacitise them on some of the rules and regulations governing athletics before the commencement of the 2010 Inter-schools Athletics Competition which is being held annually.

The ultimate objective of the day coaching exercise, according to the instructor of the programme, Alhagi Dodou Joof, is aimed at upgrading P.E teachers about ethics and responsibilities, ahead of the forthcoming athletics championship.

This year's Inter-schools Athletics Competition, according to Capi as he is fondly called who also doubles as the Secretary-General of the Gambia Athletic Association, will be different from the one held last year, given the fact that there would be introduction of new rules and regulations that have been put in place to help stage a successful championship.

The Secretary-General of the Gambia Secondary School Sports, Alagie Darboe believed that such training would go a long way towards raising awareness of participants.

He used the platform to thank Trust Bank LTD, on behalf of his colleagues for their wonderful contribution in sponsoring their activities for the past six years.
