Gamtel FC last Sunday 17th January 2010, defeated the newly promoted side Gambia Ports Authority by a goal to nil in the Week Two of the ongoing Gambia Football Association (GFA) First Division League at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium.
The telecommunication boys Gamtel FC opened the scoreline through Modou Njie Sarr in the 19th minute of the game.
The ferry boys Gambia Ports Authority fought back and created so many scoring opportunities but could not break the deadlock, thus the game ended 1-0 in favour of Gamtel FC.
Gamtel FC now collects 4points from 2 games, while Gambia Ports Authority bagged 3 points from 2 encounters.
Speaking to the Head Coach of the Gambia Ports Authority, Peter Bonu Johnson, shortly after the game he expressed disappointment with the result, adding that they have created so many scoring opportunities but could not capitalise on them.
"Luck was not on our side but we have to accept it and prepare for our next game," he stated.
Sulayman Corr, the Head Coach of Gamtel FC expressed delight at the victory, adding that his aim is to be among the top three, at the end of the first round.
Head Coach Corr also revealed that they will prepare well for their next game against Steve Biko.
