As Gambia’s AFCON qualifiers clash against Cameroon draws near

Head Coach of the Gambia senior national team (the Scorpions), Raoul Savoy, will tomorrow, 27 August 2015, name the players invited to face Cameroon on Sunday 6 September 2015 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

Savoy will announce his squad at a media conference organised by the Gambia Football Federation at its Secretariat in Kanifing ahead of the country’s 2017 crunch Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at home to Cameroon.

The media conference will also avail the coach the opportunity to discuss the state of preparedness of the country’s football national team for their crunch 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on 6 September 2015.

The Swiss tactician would use the occasion to well-inform the press about his level of preparation ahead of the crucial match against the Indomitable Lions.

The Gambia are currently with a point in group M of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after their goalless away draw with South Africa on 13 June 2015 in Durban.

They will therefore be challenging for a win against Cameroon come Sunday 6 September 2015, to fancy their chances of qualifying for their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations but a defeat against the Indomitable Lions may limit their hopes of qualifying for their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations.

Cameroon are topping group M of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers following their slender 1-0 home win over Mauritania on 14 June 2015 in Yaoundé.

They will be fighting for a victory against the Scorpions come Sunday 6 September 2015, to maintain their hundred percent record as well as keep their chances of qualifying for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations alive.

Cameroon have already named their squad to face the Gambia and are expected in Banjul sometime next week.
